Gerrard doesn’t just score goals
Football Writers’ Player of the Year Steven Gerrard proved his credentials by topping the assists chart in the end of season stats.
The England Midfielder assisted 12 of Liverpool’s 74 goals this season, which equated to 16% of Livepool’s goals. The leading benefactor of Gerrard’s generosity, strangely enough was not Fernando Torres however but Yossi Benayoun, with Gerrard laying on three of his goals.

Tottenham’s Luca Modric proved to be the most valuable ‘assister’ to his team this season with 21% of Spurs’ goals being layed on by the Croation maestro. (9/43). Clearly Harry Redknapp will be hoping his forwards can be more clinical next season as they clearly have a talented supply line.
