Oldest Scoring Trio all Retire

The three oldest try scorers in the history of the Premiership all retired from top class rugby over the summer.

Leading the way was Bristol’s Welsh second row Gareth Llewellyn who was 37 years and 303 days old when he scored his final try for Bristol the previous season in the home match against local rivals Bath. In his final season at the club he failed to claim a try.

Second oldest player to score a try in the Premiership is another Bristol player, Prop Dave Hilton. He scored his last try in the home win over Northampton Saints back in March 2006 and like Llewellyn failed to score in his final season of Premiership rugby. He was 36 years 356 days old when he scored his final try.

The third player on the list is Worcester prop Tony Windo who scored his final try aged 36 years 246 days when he touched down on New Years Day against Newcastle Falcons at Kingston Park Windo ended that season with four tries, a great return from a prop forward.
